Iran, China to strengthen defense ties, academic collaboration
TEHRAN- Officials from Iran's National Defense University and their counterparts from China reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing defense ties, defense diplomacy, and academic cooperation.
A delegation from the Chinese National Defense University (NDU) visited the Iranian National Defense University, engaging in discussions with Iranian officials and gaining insights into the university’s educational, research, and international activities, particularly in attracting foreign students.
During a joint meeting, Iranian National Defense University Deputy Head Brigadier General Khosrow Bolhasani expressed gratitude for the Chinese President's condolences following a recent terrorist attack in Kerman. He emphasized the longstanding and multifaceted relations between Iran and China, spanning political, economic, cultural, and defense spheres.
General Bolhasani highlighted China's steadfast support for Iran and underscored the need to elevate academic collaboration to match the level of cooperation in other domains. He also highlighted the university's efforts in attracting foreign students, including the initiation of doctoral-level programs for international students since 2022.
The head of Chinese delegation, Senior Colonel Tai Jinsong expressed his appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by the Iranian National Defense University.
He outlined the Chinese delegation's objectives, which centered on bolstering military relations, strengthening defense diplomacy, and fostering academic exchanges through faculty collaborations.
Jinsong expressed hope that at least one Chinese student would pursue studies at the Iranian National Defense University in the upcoming academic year. He emphasized the significant role the Iranian university plays in the Islamic Republic's armed forces and underscored the need for further strengthening academic and scientific cooperation between the two universities.
Iranian and Chinese senior officials reportedly mapped out a roadmap for future bilateral relations.
During the meeting, the Chinese delegation provided insights into China's defense policies in the evolving global landscape.
The Head of Iran's National Defense University Esmail Ahmadi Moqaddam, addressed recent regional developments and the strategic significance of Iran-China cooperation in the current context, reiterating the importance of deepening ties between the two universities.
